The war memorial was unveiled on Sunday 16th April 1922 by Lt-Col John Kennedy, CMG, DSO. He was in the Black Watch regiment and was the son of Colonel and Mrs Kennedy from Arclid. The panels of the memorial are inscribed with the names of those who gave their lives for their country.  The memorial was erected by public subscription and cost about £900.
